The North American Circuit
Where Do You Bobsled?
There are a handful of bobsled tracks in Europe and four tracks in North America:
1. Lake Placid, New York
2. Park City, Utah
3. Calgary, Canada
4. Whistler, Canada
Park City, Utah
Most of my bobsled training is spent in Lake Placid, one of the toughest tracks
in the world. During the offseason (April-August), when I am not training at the
Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY, I train at D-1 Sports and Injuries
Training Center in Collierville, TN. My offseason training consists of mainly sprints,
weight lifting, spinning, and plyometrics.
Competitions
The North American circuit holds all of its competitions in North America. So far this
season, we’ve been to all of the tracks on this circuit.

The Olympic Process
Combine
A combine tests your strength and speed. Tests include:
1) 15m sprint, 30m sprint and 45m sprint
2) 3 rep max back squat and 1 rep max power clean
3) Broad jump and shot toss
Each test is based on a point system and the maximum amount of points that you can receive is 100.
Push Championships
If you do well in your combine, you are invited to push championships. Push championships is a competition
that shows how well you can use your strength and speed pushing a bobsled by yourself. The faster you push
, the better.
U.S Team Trials
After push championships, teams are formed. Pilots will pick who they want to race with at team trials based on
the results of push championships. Team trials usually consists of two races in two days (four runs down the
track).
